Q: What is a mailing list?
A: It is a list of e-mail addresses of those who are subscribed to the mailing list. The list has an e-mail address of its own. Messages sent to the mailing list are automatically sent out to each member of the list who have subscribed to the mailing list. Each member of the list will receive all messages sent to the list.

The Alabina Mailing List is an e-mail-based discussion group of fans. It is not an official information release system.

Q: Subscribe? Does it cost anything?
A: No. Perhaps "subscribe" is a poor word choice, but it's the one that is univerally used to mean belonging to a mailing list. There is no cost or obligation in either case. You may also unsubscribe at any point.

Q: How does the Alabina Mailing List work?
A: The Alabina Mailing List is automated. It uses list-managing software to automatically send out messages to the list, to subscribe and/or unsubscribe people. When you send a message out to the list, the software forwards the message to everyone who has subscribed to the list. You will also receive all messages sent to the list.

Q: What should I expect if I join the Alabina Mailing List?
A: As the list grows you will get more messages. Often times when the band is touring discussions will increase. It is a great way to learn about new music and up coming concert tours.

Q: Can I read the list on line with my web browswer and not receive daily emails?
A: Yes! If you sign up directly at topica.com (where the mailing list program is located), you can read messages online. There is also a digest feature available at topica.com (where the list comes from) that will send you all the messages sent to the Alabina mailing list that day.

Q: Can I post a message to the list from my web browser at topica.com without sending an email to the list?
A: Yes, once you are signed up at topica.com and subscribed to the Alabina Mailing List, you will be able to post.

Q: Can I subscribe to the daily mailing and also read the messages on line from my web browser?
A: Yes, all messages are archived on topica at http://www.topica.com/lists/alabina/read However you will have to be signed up directly at topica.com and be a member of the mailing list to read them.

Q: What e-mail addresses do I need to know?

A: To subscribe to the mailing list, send a blank email to:
alabina-subscribe@topica.com
You will be asked to confirm your subscriptions. If you have a SPAM filter runing, you may have set up the filter so your messages from the list will go through.

To send a message to the list (you must be a member to do so), send it to:
alabina@topica.com

To unsubscribe to the mailing list, send a blank email to:
alabina-unsubscribe@topica.com

Also, once you are subscribed, on each email sent from the list are easy instructions on how to unsubscribe.

Q: Is there anything that I should not send to the mailing list?
A: Chain Letters, Spam, excessively long messages or totally irrelevant material, especially politics, will not be tolerated. Violators may be removed from the list immediately or have posting privileges revoked.

Also, do not post messages or use sig files containing political, religious or advertising messages. Lengthy sig files are discouraged.

If you'd like to share a photo or other related material send it to webmonkey@alabina.org for posting to the web site. DO NOT attempt to send it to the mailing list.

Q: How do I remove myself (unsubscribe) from the Alabina Mailing List?
A: Simply send a blank email to: alabina-unsubscribe@topica.com

Q: How do I join the Alabina Mailing List?
A: Send a blank email to: alabina-subscribe@topica.com

You will be asked to confirm your subscription to prevent someone from signing you up without your permission.
